This is a full-time position focused on product certification of innovative, groundbreaking products and leading the product certification department. Work in this position focuses on understanding and interpreting building codes, standards, and data analysis. Strong problem-solving skills and ingenuity are required.

In this role, you will: 

  • Manage the Product Certification Department including training, delegating workload and supporting the team.
  • Research building code requirements for product certification.
  • Interpret the building code and understand how to apply the relevant provisions to the product.
  • Determine applicable criteria for product certification.
  • Review Technical Evaluation Reports (code compliance evaluation reports).
  • Understand the technical data in the Technical Evaluation Reports.
  • Review quality assurance and quality control documentation.
  • Participate in continuing education regarding building code content, construction methods, industry trends, and client needs.

Qualities that you possess to succeed in this position:

  • Background in certification activities, product testing labs, building codes, construction project management, or product manufacturing.
  • Engineering experience preferred but not required.
  • Management experience.
  • Soft people skills and ability to delegate workload and support the certification team.
  • Knowledge of general construction practices.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards. 
  • Innovative mindset.
  • Flexible and adaptive to changes, able to pivot and navigate, and solution-focused.
  • Strong sense of time management, importance of budget tracking, and prioritization.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with building codes, analysis & certification analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking abilities. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in construction management, technical communication, engineering, architecture, or related technical job experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. VBA skills are also valuable in this role.
